- ROME, OCT 27 - Nearly 8.4 million Italians will be on the move for the long holiday weekend starting on All Saints' Day on November 1, a public holiday in Italy, hoteliers' association Federalberghi said on Friday.
Nearly 90% of holiday makers will remain in Italy - of whom the majority in their region of residence - and around 10% will go abroad, according to a survey. Of those opting to stay in Italy, 29.1% will head to the coast and 21.5% into the mountains, while 24.7% will visit an art city. For those going abroad, the most popular destinations will be the major European capitals , non-European capitals and cruises .
The total turnover linked to the long holiday weekend is expected to be around 3.77 billion euro, Federalberghi said.
