Cristiano Ronaldo has announced his departure from the Portuguese national team's training camp following a dispute with coach Jorge Jesus over playing time. Ronaldo expressed his displeasure on Instagram, promising to reveal the truth about his exit at a later date while wishing his teammates well.
This Wednesday, September 30, Portugal coach Jorge Jesus commented on Cristiano Ronaldo, stating he had promised him playing time in the previous match against Norway but could not fulfill it as the game required different players.
He also noted that Ronaldo is not playing as frequently in Saudi Arabia as he once did when coached by Jesus at Al-Nassr. In response to these comments, Cristiano Ronaldo initially missed the Portuguese team's training session for the second day in a row. Shortly after the session ended, Ronaldo posted on Instagram that he is leaving the national team camp and will reveal the true reasons for his departure later.
'Following the national coach's press conference and a conversation with the President of the Portuguese Football Federation, I have decided to leave the national team concentration. In due time, I will tell the truth to all Portuguese people about the reasons that motivated my exit from the national team, to which I have always dedicated myself. Now is the time to wish good luck to Portugal and all my teammates, without exception,' wrote the five-time Ballon d'Or winner.
