- ROME, NOV 3 - Young men are dying in Ukraine and the Middle East out of nationalism and fanaticism, President Sergio Mattarella told military cadets Friday.
"The bloody fighting in Ukraine and the massacre triggered by Hamas's cowardly terrorist attack against helpless Israeli civilians, with the spiral of violence that has ensued, show, in all its dramatic nature, the fragility of peace," he said. "Young men like you are fighting and dying due to nationalist extremism and fanaticism distant from our values." Mattarella also said"you serve the homeland by defending the rights of all". .
